What is Autumn?

Autumn. Since I've come back from holiday, it is the one topic that is always seems to be on my mind, every minute of the day. The thought of it being just round the corner gives me so much thrill and excitement, that I just want to run about with my arms above my head, screaming that the season is almost  here. But why? Why is Autumn so special? What even is Autumn? The correct answer  would be a season right? Well that's wrong. Autumn is more than just a season my friend. Autumn is the following:

Autumn is that great feeling you get from wearing your favourite jumper.

Autumn it when it starts getting dark earlier.

Autumn is when the leaves transition from bright greens green, to dark reds, burnt oranges, and mustard yellows.

Autumn is when you light your favourite scented candles and the room suddenly feels ten times cosier.

Autumn is the crunch of leaves underneath your shoes as you walk.

Autumn is drinking your favourite hot drinks and feeling the warmth in your belly.

Autumn is carving into pumpkins before Halloween.

Autumn is watching fireworks from your bedroom window.

Autumn is wearing your favourite pair of socks to keep your feet warm.

Autumn is snuggling up with blankets while you watch television or read a book.

Autumn is the scent of pumpkins, cooked apples, cinnamon and caramel.

Autumn is your favourite pair of boots that you live in day after day.

Autumn is long walks in the crispy cold air.

Autumn is Guy Fawkes night, standing round a toasty bonfire and waiting for the fireworks.

Autumn is drawing love hearts in the air with sparklers.

Autumn is walking into a home that hugs you in warmth and smells of cooking after being out in the cold.

Autumn is that brisk breeze blowing against your body and through your hair

Autumn is time for love, family, friends and good  memories.

That is Autumn to me.

What is Autumn to you?

Much love,

  2. YES. Love this post! I'm really excited about autumn (as I am every year), even though the summer has been pretty rubbish. Can't wait for jumpers, yellow and red leaves, hot drinks, scented candles, and that gorgeous autumn light.
